This course will get you started on the path to become confident, competent and capable with a shotgun. It doesn’t matter whether it is semi-automatic or a traditional pump action shotgun we will get you squared away.

Time: The class promptly starts at the time indicated on registration.

Location: Class will be held at our retail location with the live fire portion held at Mid Carolina Rifle Club,

Equipment and dress:

• No low-cut shirts.

• Closed toed shoes required, hat, eye and ear protection on the range is mandatory. 

• Student should possess a shotgun. If you do not possess one, we have loaners semi-auto and pump action. After class we can make arrangements to help you select and purchase one that is right for you.

• 75-100 rounds of bird shot or like ammunition for the bulk with, 5 rounds of slugs and 5 rounds of 00 Buck ammunition to pattern is required. More is always better.

• Common causes of gun accidents.

• Proper storage, best practices to reduce risk of accidental injury to children and others.

• Four cardinal rules of gun safety, what they mean and how to properly follow them.

• Parts of a shotgun.

• Cycles of function.

• Loading/unloading a semiautomatic or pump action shotgun.

• Malfunctions, types, causes and remedies. 

• Maintenance

• Ammunition selection, purpose benefits and drawbacks of different types.

• Shooting fundamentals.

• Engagement techniques.

• Development of a dry fire routine and training regimen. 

• Range safety brief, medical plan, and range procedures.

Notes:

• When signing up please include the type of shotgun and gauge you intend on brining to the class, make, model, and whether or not you have a sling. 

• If student needs ammunition, eye or ear protection it can be purchased before the trip to the range. We have everything you need and we are happy to help discount ammo to help you come train with us.

• There will be a mixture of dry and live rife in this course both in classroom and on the range. 

Terms: Tuition paid in full is non-refundable Reschedules can be approved: Enrolled clients are permitted to reschedule one (1) time.
